KYC stands for “Know Your Customer”. It is the process we use to confirm that you are who you say you are, that you are over 18 and that the money you play with is yours. At EchoSlots Casino verification happens before any play, and for most players it is finished automatically in under two minutes.
This guide explains every stage, from the instant check at sign-up to the occasional request for extra documents. If you are ready to cash out, our withdrawals guide explains how verification links to your first payout.
Why the UK requires verification before play
As a casino licensed and regulated in Great Britain, we must verify your age and identity before you can deposit money for play or use any free spins. The rules exist for good reasons:
- Protecting minors. Nobody under 18 can gamble with us, and checking up front is the only reliable way to make sure.
- Preventing fraud. Verification stops people opening accounts in someone else’s name or using stolen payment details.
- Fighting money laundering. We are required to understand where funds come from, especially at higher levels.
- Supporting safer gambling. Accurate details let us honour self-exclusion and GAMSTOP registrations properly.
The upside for you is that, once verified, your first withdrawal is not held up by a sudden document request.
What we check at sign-up
When you register, we ask for your full name, date of birth, home address, email address and mobile number. We then run an automatic electronic check against credit-reference and electoral roll data. This is a “soft” check: it does not affect your credit score and it is not visible to lenders.
Most accounts pass in under 2 minutes. You will see a confirmation on screen and can go straight to the cashier.
Why an automatic check might fail
- You have recently moved and your new address is not yet on the electoral roll.
- Your name is spelled differently from your official records (a missing middle name, for example).
- A typing error in your date of birth or postcode.
- You are new to the UK and have a limited credit history.
None of these is a problem. It simply means we need to see a couple of documents instead.
Documents we accept
If the automatic check cannot confirm your details, we will ask for one document from each column below.
| Proof of identity | Proof of address (dated within 3 months) |
|---|---|
| Passport | Utility bill (gas, electricity, water, broadband) |
| UK driving licence (photocard) | Bank or building society statement |
| National ID card | Council tax letter |
Your proof of address must show your full name and the same address you registered with. Mobile phone bills and printouts of online banking pages without your name are not accepted.
How to upload your documents
- Log in and go to My Account, then the Verification tab. If you have trouble signing in, see our login guide.
- Choose the document type you are uploading.
- Take a clear photo or select a scan from your device.
- Upload the file and wait for the confirmation message.
- Repeat for each document requested.
Upload tips for a fast approval
- Use JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 10 MB per file.
- Make sure all four corners of the document are visible.
- Photograph in good light with no glare or shadows across the text.
- Upload the original photo or PDF. No screenshots of screenshots, and no edited or cropped images.
- Check that the document is in date and that the text is sharp enough to read.
Following these tips avoids the most common reason for rejection, which is simply a blurry or cropped image.
How long verification takes
| Stage | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Automatic electronic check | Under 2 minutes |
| Manual review of uploaded documents | Usually 2–4 hours, always within 24 hours |
| Source of funds review | Depends on the documents provided |
You will get an email as soon as your documents are approved. If anything is unclear, we will tell you exactly what to resend rather than rejecting the whole application.
Payment method ownership
Under UK rules you may only use payment methods in your own name. From time to time we will ask you to prove that a card or e-wallet belongs to you, usually before a withdrawal.
- Debit card: a photo of the front of the card showing your name, the first 6 and last 4 digits, with the middle 8 digits covered. Never send us the CVV on the back.
- Skrill, Neteller or Revolut: a screenshot of your account page showing your name and email address.
Remember that we accept Visa Debit and Mastercard Debit only. Credit cards and crypto are not accepted on UK accounts.
Source of funds and affordability checks
At higher deposit levels, we may ask you to show that your gambling is affordable and that the money comes from a legitimate source. This is a legal requirement, not a judgement about you. Typical documents include:
- recent payslips;
- bank statements covering the last few months;
- evidence of savings, a pension, an inheritance or the sale of property.
You can redact transactions that have nothing to do with your income, but the statement must show your name, the bank and the relevant credits. While a source of funds check is open, we may pause deposits. We aim to keep the process as quick and respectful as possible, and our team will explain what we need and why.
If your verification is rejected
A rejection is almost always fixable. The email will say why, for example “document expired”, “address does not match” or “image unclear”. Resubmit a corrected document in the Verification tab and it goes back into the review queue. If you are unsure what went wrong, our support team can explain the reason in plain English.
Need help?
Our support team is available 24/7 by live chat and email. Agents can tell you which documents are outstanding and check on the progress of a review, but for your security they cannot accept documents sent through chat. Please always use the Verification tab in your account.
